Holtby leads Capitals to 3-2 win over Bruins

Washington Capitals @ Boston Bruins game recap video, on January 5, 2016.
Yesterday, it was good to see the Bruins play better than they did in the Winter Classic game but they couldn't get enough offense against Capitals goalie Braden Holtby and fell 3-2 to the Capitals.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Capitals Andre Burakovsky scored, making the score 1-0 Capitals.

The Bruins led the game in hits 33-26. The Capitals led the game in shots 29-27 and faceoff wins 27-26. Both teams had 16 blocked shots. The Bruins went 1-for-4 on the power-play while the Capitals went 1-for-3.

Torey Krug led the Bruins with 6 shots. Matt Beleskey led the Bruins with 5 hits. Frank Vatrano led the Bruins with 4 blocked shots.

Joonas Kemppainen returned to the Bruins lineup, he had 1 shot, 3 blocked shots, was -1, had 2 PIMs and went 33% in the faceoff circle.

Joe Morrow and Zach Trotman were scratched and did not play.

Adam McQuaid injured
In the second period, Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid was hit from behind by Capitals AHL tough guy Zach Sill and no penalty was called on the play. Blind refs are blind. The hit sent McQuaid's head into the glass and McQuaid stayed down on the ice. We hope McQuaid does not have another concussion from the hit as it seems every season McQuaid takes a dangerous hit from behind and is out of the lineup for an extended period of time. Today it was announced that Capitals Zach Sill has been suspended for two games. Watch the NHL video below of the suspension.

On Monday, the Bruins assigned forward David Pastrnak to Providence (AHL).
